Shoes Might Help
Monday, October 9th, 2006Many of these birds swim the canals of Amsterdam along with ducks and cranes. This bird would be the prettiest if it weren’t for it’s feet. Rather than the typical webbed feet, each joint is enlarged and flattened so the feet contrast with the size of the bird. The contrast of the black feathers and the white striped toes doesn’t help either. Luckily their feet are usually hidden under the water.
UPDATE: My aunt, Carol, identified the bird as a Eurasian Coot.
